Frequently Asked Questions

A complete guide to Wig Rescue RX products, usage, compatible hair types, shipping, orders, and more.

Everything you need to know about the Wig Rescue RX Restoration Trilogy — what it is, which hair it's designed for, how to use it, and what to expect.

About Wig Rescue RX

What is Wig Rescue RX?

Wig Rescue RX is a professional restoration system designed to help restore softness, slip, manageability, shine, and longevity to wigs, extensions, toppers, weaves, clip-ins, and hairpieces. It is formulated for hair fibers that are no longer growing from the scalp.

What makes Wig Rescue RX different from regular wig shampoo and conditioner?

Wig Rescue RX is not simply a shampoo-and-conditioner routine. The Restoration Trilogy is a complete three-step system in which each product performs a specific function: Acid Wash prepares the fibers, Fiber Soak renews softness and manageability, and Sealing Oil helps protect the restored finish.

Is Wig Rescue RX a conditioner?

No. Although Fiber Soak helps restore softness and manageability, Wig Rescue RX is positioned as a fiber restoration system rather than a traditional conditioner.

Is Wig Rescue RX a private-label formula?

No. Wig Rescue RX formulas were developed specifically for the brand and are manufactured according to our approved specifications for wig and hair-fiber restoration.

The Restoration Trilogy

What are the three steps in the Wig Rescue RX Restoration Trilogy?
  • Step 1: Acid Wash — Prepare. Helps remove buildup and prepares the fibers for restoration.
  • Step 2: Fiber Soak — Renew. Helps restore softness, slip, flexibility, and manageability.
  • Step 3: Sealing Oil — Protect. Helps reduce fiber-to-fiber friction, maintain strand separation, control frizz and matting, and preserve the restored finish.
Do I need to use all three products?

The Trilogy was designed to work as a complete system. Each step serves a different purpose, so using all three provides the full Wig Rescue RX restoration experience.

Compatible Hair Types

Can I use Wig Rescue RX on human hair wigs?

Yes. Wig Rescue RX is designed for human hair wigs, extensions, toppers, weaves, clip-ins, and hairpieces.

Does Wig Rescue RX work on synthetic wigs?

Some synthetic fibers may respond well to Wig Rescue RX, but results vary based on the fiber type, construction, condition, and previous damage. Human hair wigs and extensions remain the primary intended use. Test a small, hidden section first when using the products on synthetic fibers.

Can I use Wig Rescue RX on my natural hair?

No. Wig Rescue RX is formulated for wigs, extensions, weaves, toppers, clip-ins, and hairpieces. It is not intended for hair growing directly from the scalp.

Can I use it on lace-front, hand-tied, or closure wigs?

Yes, but delicate lace, knots, adhesives, and hand-tied construction should always be handled gently. Avoid vigorous rubbing, pulling, twisting, or prolonged unnecessary soaking.

Can I use it on colored, bleached, or chemically processed wigs?

Yes, but results depend on the condition of the fibers. Always follow the directions carefully and test a discreet section first, especially on highly processed, fragile, or custom-colored units.

Can I use it on curly wigs?

Yes. Handle curls gently throughout the process and avoid aggressive brushing that could disturb the curl pattern.

Results and Expectations

Can Wig Rescue RX restore a dry, crispy, or crunchy wig?

If the texture is caused by dryness, buildup, friction, tangling, or loss of manageability, Wig Rescue RX may significantly improve softness, slip, shine, and overall appearance. It cannot reverse melted fibers, burned hair, broken strands, severe chemical destruction, or other permanent physical damage.

Will Wig Rescue RX make my wig look brand new?

Many wigs experience a dramatic improvement, but results depend on the wig's original quality, age, fiber type, maintenance history, and degree of damage. Wig Rescue RX restores fibers as closely as possible to their best achievable condition without claiming to reverse permanent damage.

Does it repair heat-damaged or burned hair?

Wig Rescue RX may improve dryness and manageability caused by normal heat styling, but it cannot reverse fibers that have been melted, burned, structurally broken, or permanently damaged by excessive heat.

How long will the results last?

Results vary depending on how often the wig is worn, washed, stored, and heat styled. Proper maintenance and use of the complete Trilogy can help preserve softness, strand separation, shine, and manageability between treatments.

Will the products make my wig heavy or greasy?

The products are designed to restore softness and lubrication without unnecessarily weighing down the fibers when used according to the directions. Using more than the recommended amount may affect the final feel.

Will Wig Rescue RX change the color of my wig?

Wig Rescue RX is not intended to change hair color. However, highly porous, damaged, custom-colored, or unstable fibers should always be patch-tested before full use.

How to Use Wig Rescue RX

Do I soak the entire wig, including the cap?

The wig may be submerged as directed, including the cap. Handle lace, knots, elastic, adhesives, and hand-tied construction gently. Avoid aggressive rubbing, scrubbing, twisting, or pulling.

Will soaking the cap loosen the knots?

Properly constructed knots should not loosen from gentle use as directed. However, lace and hand-tied wigs are delicate, and excessive agitation, scrubbing, pulling, hot water, or prolonged soaking may affect their construction.

How much product should I use?

Follow the dosage listed on the product label and directions. Longer, denser, extremely dry, or heavily tangled wigs may require an adjusted amount.

Does using less water create a stronger treatment?

Using less water with the same measured amount of product creates a more concentrated treatment bath. Stay within the approved directions and make sure the wig has enough room to move freely in the basin.

What water temperature should I use?

Use the water temperature listed in the product directions. Avoid very hot water, which may affect lace, adhesives, color, curl patterns, synthetic fibers, and wig construction.

How long should I soak my wig?

Follow the soak time printed on the product directions for each step of the Trilogy.

Should I detangle before soaking?

Gently remove severe tangles before soaking whenever possible. Avoid forceful brushing or pulling on fragile, wet, bleached, or compromised fibers.

Should I rinse the products out?

Follow the directions for each product in the Trilogy. Acid Wash, Fiber Soak, and Sealing Oil each serve a different purpose, so their rinse instructions differ.

Can I use heat tools after treatment?

Yes, when appropriate for the wig's fiber type. Always follow the wig manufacturer's heat limits and use the lowest effective temperature. Wig Rescue RX does not make fibers immune to heat damage.

How often should I use the Trilogy?

Use it when the wig begins showing signs of buildup, dryness, tangling, friction, dullness, or reduced manageability. Frequency depends on wear, styling, storage, environment, and product buildup.
